Customers worldwide — including the nation’s most successful healthcare systems — trust NextGate to handle billions of data transactions for matching accuracy, easy integration, and data quality improvement.
Reconciling Medicaid Records and Creating a Single Patient Identifier.
Mississippi Division of Medicaid (DOM)
With a need to improve care quality, fuel more informed clinical decision making and manage data electronically, Mississippi DOM took steps to establish interfaces to share clinical data with Medicaid providers, create single identifiers for Medicaid beneficiaries and provide doctors with electronic patient medical data.
NextGate partnered with MedeAnalytics to implement an EMPI, making Mississippi DOM the nation’s first Medicaid agency to share clinical data with a health system in real time. The agency now provides Medicaid data to UMMC, the state’s largest Medicaid provider.
More than 2.3 million patient records were analyzed and deduplicated, yielding a single identifier for over 750,000 beneficiaries. Providers are able to access accurate data from a statewide MPI. Benefits include lowered administrative waste and provider confidence in data quality.
Accurately Unifying Patient Records Across a Growing Health System.
Geisinger Health System
One of the largest integrated health services organizations in the United States, Geisinger Health System serves more than 3 million patients across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Growing rapidly with acquisitions of area hospitals, Geisinger was faced with the challenge of unifying medical and provider records across all of their systems.
By leveraging NextGate technology, Geisinger Health System was able to drive successful mergers and acquisitions of area hospitals.
NextGate is amazingly innovative. Over the years, we’ve seen them continually improve the master patient index and tweak algorithms with each upgrade. It just keeps getting better.

The EMPI is really the foundation of the HIE. It’s making sure we’re doing all of the little things right to make big things happen.
