HIE network will continue to leverage NextGate’s market-leading EMPI solution on AWS to improve patient identification and enhance care collaboration throughout Alaska

PASADENA, Calif., June 23, 2021 – NextGate, the global leader in healthcare enterprise identification, today announced renewal of its contract with healtheConnect Alaska, a leading health information exchange (HIE), to accurately identify, match and integrate health records across the state for population health and coordinated care improvements.

“healtheConnect Alaska is delighted to renew our contract with NextGate to continue to modernize and enhance our HIE services to influence care quality, the provider experience, and ultimately, health outcomes throughout our communities,” said Bill Pearch, CIO of healtheConnect Alaska. “Effective coordination between providers hinges on the ability to view accurate patient data from across the network. NextGate’s EMPI plays a significant role in our transformational journey toward improved care collaboration, workflow efficiency, and a comprehensive view of patients.”

healtheConnect Alaska currently enables electronic medical records exchange and direct secure messaging services for more than 500 participants statewide, including AARP Alaska, Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, Premera Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alaska, Providence Health System, and the State of Alaska’s Department of Health & Social Services.

As a strategic component for statewide data exchange and collaborative care, NextGate’s cloud-based EMPI solution on Amazon Web Services (AWS) enables real-time interoperability and medical record matching across more than 20 hospitals and 450 healthcare organizations within the healtheConnect Alaska network. The partnership with NextGate further strengthens the HIE’s ability to execute downstream projects including bi-directional data exchange with the Veteran’s Administration and integration of behavioral and social determinants of health (SDOH) data.

“We continue to value the impact of NextGate’s scalable patient identification technology to optimize high-quality data for enhanced care quality and outcomes for our patients, providers and communities,” said Laura Young, Executive Director of healtheConnect Alaska. “We are delighted to extend our partnership and leverage NextGate’s innovative capabilities and expertise for critical health improvements across the state.”

Through NextGate’s EMPI, healtheConnect Alaska will empower participating physicians and hospitals with a longitudinal patient record at the point of care for improved clinical decision making and enhanced operational and administrative efficiencies.

“We are pleased to continue our long-standing partnership with healtheConnect Alaska,” said Andy Aroditis, CEO of NextGate. “Our robust EMPI and digital identity solutions, combined with our experienced and dedicated team, continues to make NextGate the partner of choice for leading state and regional HIEs.”
