In this For The Record feature article, NextGate’s CTO Daniel Cidon says consumerization of healthcare is driving organizations toward a KYP (Know Your Patient) approach, which requires an entirely different way to address identity.
“The KYP approach, in combination with EMPI technology, allows consumers to play an active role in managing their identity,” he says. “Right now, we have a ‘pull’ process where the health system is repeatedly trying to drag information out of the patient at various touch points. But NextGate is developing a ‘push’ system where the patient can store, maintain, validate, or alter their information, and share it with the right people when they deem necessary. That way, the health system becomes the recipient of data that have already been verified by the patient.”
