Former State HIT Coordinator for Health and Human Services Joins NextGate as Director of Product Management

Leader in patient identification and digital identity welcomes Minakshi Tikoo as key addition to its team

PASADENA, Calif., August 26, 2021 – NextGate, the global leader in healthcare enterprise identification, announced today that accomplished health informatics state leader Minakshi Tikoo, PhD, MBI, MS, MSc has joined the company as Director of Product Management. Dr. Tikoo is a veteran health IT trailblazer with decades of experience driving digital transformation as part of a strategic plan to improve value-based, person-centered care.

As Director of Product Management, Dr. Tikoo will be responsible for the overall development of new key capabilities within the NextGate product suit to define the why, when and what of new digital identity solutions, as the company continues to experience tremendous growth and become a disruptive force in the healthcare industry.

“We are thrilled to have experienced and respected professional like Minakshi join our team to support the growing number of organizations that rely on NextGate to identify, track and effectively manage their populations,” said Daniel Cidon, CTO of NextGate. “Her wealth of knowledge and deep understanding of our business will further NextGate’s mission to deliver industry-leading digital identity solutions that will enhance care efficiencies and consumer expectations around the globe.”

Dr. Tikoo has dedicated her career to the advancement of healthcare IT, specializing in health IT analytics, and population health management. Most recently, she was the Assistant Commissioner of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Prior to that, Dr. Tikoo was the State HIT Coordinator for Health and Human Services and Director of Business Intelligence & Shared Analytics for the Connecticut Department of Social Services.

Dr. Tikoo has over 20 years of leadership experience at the state and local level working with providers to assist in the adoption of EHRs. Her extensive experience in health informatics coupled with her relationships with key stakeholders at the federal, state, and local levels have helped to facilitate care coordination across multiple participants and moving Connecticut forward towards a functional and sustainable HIE.

Throughout her acclaimed career, Dr. Tikoo has focused on creating synergy between health service’s automation, health informatics, and research. In Connecticut and Virginia, she deployed behavioral health informatics systems—a first for these departments in terms of systematic reporting and in creating interactions with the local provider networks. In addition, she has worked with a wide variety of health and community organizations in New England and the Mid-Atlantic States to improve health IT and organizational efficiency.

A published author and recipient of numerous academic honors and awards, Dr. Tikoo’s research has been funded by many HHS centers, such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of the National Coordinator for technology (ONC), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), and the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS).

“I am incredibly pleased to join a company like NextGate that is on the forefront of providing digital identity solutions for consumer empowerment and streamlined care interactions,” said Dr. Tikoo. “For decades, NextGate has set the benchmark for integrated patient identification accuracy, and continues to develop urgent, ground-breaking solutions that keep pace with healthcare’s rapidly changing landscape.
